What kind of intelligent sensors does Wisdom use?
Wisdom uses radar to detect falls, contact sensors on doors, and movement sensing for room occupancy and bed exits. None of these capture images. Wisdom Enhanced can add computer vision for visual confirmation of an event, with consent. Sensor placement is designed for each home rather than following a fixed pattern.
How does Wisdom detect a fall in the home without a wearable?
Wisdom uses mmWave radar placed in the rooms where fall risk is highest. Radar detects movement, position, and body orientation, so it can recognize a fall without a camera and without anything worn. With Wisdom Essentials Plus and Wisdom Enhanced, a detected fall is located to the specific room and the Trusted Circle is alerted with that context. Wisdom Enhanced can add computer vision for visual confirmation of an event.
Is in-home fall detection or a wearable better?
Neither is better in every situation. A wearable travels with the person and can bring help away from home, but it has to be worn and charged. In-home sensing works whether or not anything is worn, but it covers the home rather than everywhere the person goes. Wisdom uses in-home sensing as the foundation and offers the optional Wisdom Connected Smartwatch, so families can choose one or use both.
Can't we just use a camera, baby monitor, Alexa, or a Ring?
They solve different problems. A camera shows you a room if you happen to be looking. A doorbell tells you someone arrived. A smart speaker answers when spoken to. None of them notices on its own that a fall happened at two in the morning, and each one puts a camera or a microphone in a home where the person living there may not want either. Wisdom uses mmWave radar and movement sensing instead, so it recognizes meaningful change on its own and tells the Trusted Circle without anyone watching a feed.
Does Wisdom work if the internet goes out?
Wisdom requires Wi-Fi. If the home WiFi network goes down, the system cannot send alerts, and the Trusted Circle is notified that Wisdom is unavailable. When service is restored, the system reconnects automatically and sends a reconnection notice to the older adult and the Trusted Circle. Nobody has to do anything to bring it back.
What is involved in a Wisdom installation, and how long does it take?
Wisdom is installed by a professional installer, and no home modifications are required. A typical installation takes 60 to 90 minutes, though timing varies with the size of the home, the package, and the sensors being placed. Sensor placement is designed for the specific home, so the pattern varies with layout, room use, and where support is most useful. Wisdom Enhanced is planned consultatively around the specific home and usually takes longer, but less than a day.
How long does Wisdom take to learn an older adult’s routine?
Wisdom begins working as soon as it is installed. Over the first 14 days it learns the normal rhythm of the home and builds the baseline it uses to recognize when something looks different. Families can see activity in the MyWisdom app during that learning period.
How does Wisdom protect privacy and personal data?
The older adult or system administrator sets the privacy level, defines the Trusted Circle, and decides what each member can see. Wisdom Essentials and Wisdom Essentials Plus use no cameras. In Wisdom Enhanced, live view is consent-gated rather than continuously available, so no one can look into the home without permission. Wisdom follows established practices for securing and storing customer data.
