Wisdom Honored with the Carol Wessel Humanitarian Award by the Family & Children’s Association
NEW YORK NY, November 14, 2025
Wisdom, an innovative AgeTech company helping older adults live safely and independently at home, has been selected by the Family & Children’s Association (FCA) of Long Island to receive the Carol Wessel Humanitarian Award at the organization’s annual Fall Harvest Celebration.
The Fall Harvest Celebration, FCA’s largest annual fundraiser, took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Heritage Club at Bethpage. Each year, the event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to support critical programs that benefit more than 35,000 Long Islanders — including vulnerable children, families, and older adults.
The Carol Wessel Humanitarian Award, named for the late FCA trustee and philanthropist, honors individuals or organizations whose compassion, innovation, and generosity embody the spirit of service and community care. Previous honorees have included companies, advocates, and academic leaders that have made measurable impacts on family and senior well-being.
“FCA and Wisdom share the same goals of helping seniors live with dignity, independence and connection,” said Paige O’Brien, Chief Development Officer at Family & Children’s Association. “We are proud to honor Wisdom for their innovative and compassionate approach—one that reflects the spirit Carol Wessel embodied and that our organization strives to uphold every day.”
“Being recognized by FCA with this award is deeply meaningful,” said Cathy Minter, Co-Founder of Wisdom. “FCA’s dedication to empathy and innovation mirrors our own and we are honored to stand among their past awardees and grateful to contribute to a shared vision of care.”
FCA, one of Long Island’s oldest and largest health and human service organizations, is celebrating over 140 years of service. The nonprofit continues to provide programs that strengthen communities and support people in need across Nassau County and beyond. Proceeds from the event provide critical funds that bolster programs and services supporting more than 35,000 Long Islanders including 10,000 older adults annually.
“This honor reinforces the shared belief that technology can strengthen human connection and enhance dignity across generations,” continued Minter. “There is a caregiver crisis happening now and Wisdom is an example of how technology can help bridge this gap by fostering communication that enhances caregiver services.”
